Level One: Figures for Voice™

Level One: Figures for Voice™ teaches the tools of the craft. The skills developed in Level One will help you add strength, clarity and stamina to your voice!

Students will use EVT’s innovative Figures for Voice™ to learn control of the vocal structures that influence voice quality. Each Figure employs exercises that reveal new vocal options and effects. After becoming familiar with each Figure, participants will be given the opportunity to apply their new skills in small group practice sessions. There will also be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

What are Figures for Voice™?

For many years, in the world of competitive Figure Skating, skaters had to learn and execute certain Compulsory Figures, such as the Figure 8, that demonstrated their technical skills and physical and mental control. Similarly, EVT Figures for Voice™ are exercises used to learn and demonstrate the many elements of voice production—the Estill Voice Model™ in action! Practice of the Figures develops strong technical skills and great physical and mental control, ultimately leading to better overall performance.

Level One: Figures for Voice™ will be of interest to singers, actors, public speakers, voice teachers, and clinical voice professionals.

ABOUT ESTILL VOICE TRAINING™:

“Jo Estill 's work is pioneering in that she was the first to separate voice quality clearly into source and filter components! Her basic vocal tract shapes associated with sob (yawn current), twang, and sing (opera) are fundamental to our current understanding of how the source and the filter interact.”
